Ravi Kharka is a dedicated international humanitarian and development professional with a robust twenty-year track record in fostering sustainable change and resilience in vulnerable communities. As a PhD Research Scholar specializing in Social Work, his research focuses on ICT4D, Localization, and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Actions.
With a decade of senior management experience, Ravi has provided strategic program direction, overseen operations and financial management, ensured safety and security, and delivered technical assistance for multi-sector initiatives ranging from $5 million to $22 million annually. He has worked with esteemed donors including the UN, DANIDA, EU/EC, ECHO, DFID UK, USAID, OFDA, RNE, ROI, Dutch MFA, and EED Germany across multiple countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and India.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Organizational guidance
- Providing strategic program direction for humanitarian and emergency programs with budgets up to $22 million annually
- Overseeing operations and financial management for multi-sector initiatives across 25 states in India
- Mentoring and coordinating NGOs and consortium partners in complex operational environments
- Developing comprehensive strategic plans and cultivating strong networks with governmental counterparts
- Ensuring program effectiveness and driving systemic change through quality management
Localization & Capacity Building
- Leading institutional capacity building initiatives for 200+ National NGOs in Afghanistan
- Establishing and promoting National NGOs focused on Women Economic Empowerment (WEE)
- Building capacity of CBOs, NNGOs and INGOs across South Asia
- Developing TVET Framework and establishing micro-enterprises and joint ventures
- Promoting localization agendas and advancing climate action initiatives
Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement
- Cultivating strong networks with governmental counterparts and diverse stakeholders
- Engaging with donors including UN agencies, EU, USAID, and multiple foreign ministries
- Representing organizations at high-level meetings and international platforms
- Facilitating partnership development for collective impact and sustainable outcomes
